Who am I

Life or Limbs?

Sudha Chandran is one of the most engaging and dynamic storytellers in the industry today. Her acting skills, her storytelling abilities and her discipline of dance, all help make Sudha one of the most amazing speakers on the circuit.

When Sudha's life changed in an accident at the age of 14, this is what the doctors said to her "life or limbs".  The young Bharatnatyam dancer had to make the huge decision of living as an amputee with the possibility of never dancing again. This was life-changing, but what she did with her life, changed not only her life but of many others.

Today, Sudha Chandran is not only accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer,  a popular Bollywood film and television actress, a motivational speaker but also a spokesperson for all those differently abled and is a trend-setter, change maker whose unsurmountable spirit continues to explore new challenges.

Sudha's story has captured the hearts of many - she is now in huge demand in the corporate circle to share her story and insights. She weaves in her story to share a unique perspective on how to adapt when change is thrust upon you, the journey from an amputee to an accomplished dancer/actor, pursuing your dreams, creating new paths to achieve your goals and so on.

The 1984 South Indian film, 'Mayuri' in which she plays herself was inspired by her story. The 1986 film 'Nache Mayuri' was a Hindi remake of the Telugu original, in which the cast was changed except for Sudha to suit the North Indian sensibilities. She was awarded the 1986 Special Jury Award at the National Film Awards for her performance in 'Mayuri'. She is perhaps best known for her role in the 1994 film 'Anjaam' that also stars Madhuri Dixit and Shahrukh Khan. In the Ekta Kapoor produced serial, 'Kaahin Kissii Roz', she portrayed the character of "Ramola Sikand" which became an instant hit.

Now, Sudha is considered to be one of the more flamboyant stars on Indian television and her characters are making us either to hate or admire her viciousness she portrayed on screen. She continues to perform and runs a dance school in Mumbai -Natya Mayuri Sudha Chandran Dance Academy.
