Heather studied English Literature at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, a choice solely based on the fact that this was the furthest English University away from her picturesque but sleepy home town of Exeter. After a year as the President of her university's Student Union, she worked in marketing and then advertising before deciding to flee London for a year's backpacking trip around Asia. That year turned into many, and she in fact never left Asia, moving through a series of “fun but challenging” jobs in Indonesia, Thailand and finally Mumbai.
India happened by accident, though she thinks it was meant to be. She met her husband, Vivek, in 2007 and married him a year later with her own big fat Indian wedding. They had their first child, Jake in 2010, and their second, Noah in 2012.
Heather enjoys good food and wine and constantly battles to balance her indulgent lifestyle with an erratic yoga and exercise regime.
Heather is available by invitation for her book readings, and to talk about life in India.
