Swami Bodhichitananda Saraswati

The Himalayan Yogi

Who am I

Swami Bodhichitananda Saraswati presented his monastic vows in November 1999 before Swami Chidananda Saraswati, president of the Divine Life Society, Sivananda Ashram, Rishikesh. Since 1987 he was Sannyasin in the California Ashram of the Self-Realization Fellowship, founded by Paramahansa Yogananda. In 1991 he came to India and joined the Sivananda Ashram, where he became the personal assistant of Swami Chidananda.

In 2003, on the instructions of his guru Swami Chidananda, he relocated his residence to the Ganga River in the jungle bordering the Sivananda Ashram. There he built a miniashram, Kaivalyam Forest Ashram, for example, for Ahimsa (nonviolent life). The Ashram built Swami Bodhichitananda from stones, which he collected in the jungle, the water he gets from the mountains and its energy is entirely from solar cells. The toilet is a compost toilet. Thus, Kaivalyam Forest Ashram was completely self-sufficient and environmentally friendly, including all the principles of Ahimsa-the foundation of every spiritual life.

The ashram of the Himalayan Yogis is an ashram and spiritual refuge that promotes Indian spiritual knowledge and Indian spiritual culture. All the religions and saints of the world are included, as are all means of gaining direct knowledge of the truth and of experiencing truth. The Ashram of the Himalayan Yogis recognizes the teaching traditions of the Kriya Yogas of the Gurulinie Paramahansa Yogananda, as well as the yoga of synthesis as promoted by HH Swami Sivananda, founder of the company "The Divine Life Society" and his successor, Guru Maharaj Swami Chidananda. Due to invitations of spiritual communities, ashrams, yoga centres, individuals, etc.,
