Who am I

When referring to the drivers behind the progress of the IT Industry, Som Mittal’s name figures among the top few. Som has held leadership positions at HP, Wipro, Compaq, Digital Equipment Corporation, and most recently, at NASSCOM.

Enriched with a vast experience in the sector, he shares his wisdom about the evolution of information technology and its impact on the business community in India and the world.

Som started his career in the engineering/automotive sector and worked with companies like Larsen & Toubro, Escorts, and Denso. During his tenure in this industry, he successfully set up Greenfield joint ventures and manufacturing facilities imbibing Japanese technologies.

He is credited for the effective integration and successive mergers between Compaq and HP – a business case which presented him as the “go-to” person for managing joint ventures and growing businesses.

Additionally, Som has held numerous leadership roles, building and managing large teams globally. He has successfully led policy advocacy initiatives in India, Washington DC, and Brussels among others, and has been recently tasked to develop the IT Vision for Indian Railways.
