If one could choose a middle name for Rob, it would likely be
“Daring”. Or “Resilient”. Some may prefer “Crazy”.
How else would you describe a former geography teacher who
has walked across the Gobi in winter, braved the jungles of Papua New Guinea,
and cycled across Afghanistan? Or an “ordinary guy” who struggled with fear and
shyness, but nonetheless set out on journeys of over 80,000km by bicycle and on
foot, learning to tackle countless new and unpredictable situations, and to
befriend people from dozens of cultures?
For Rob did not want a life defined by what he was afraid of,
or the abilities that he lacked. In fact, he has learned through his adventures
that it is his choices, attitudes and habits that matter most; that it is
possible to persevere in the face of setback, to overcome obstacles, and to
thrive amid change
When Speaking Minds was founded in 2007 in New Zealand, little did we envisage that this would grow into an international brand with offices in India and London in less than a decade. We set up the business to share what we had learnt, from the privileges we have had in our jobs – of access to knowledge.
Bringing India to the rest of the world was our driving force.
The dna of our business is genuinely about sharing knowledge with the
world, from thought leaders and experts who are notable achievers in
their field. Raga D'silva quit her highly successful corporate career in
New Zealand in 2007, to set up a dream business of connecting
knowledge, insights, motivation from exceptional talent with the
corporate world, globally.
