Mithali Dorai Raj is an Indian cricketer and the
captain of the Indian Women's cricket team in Tests and ODI. Often regarded as
one of the greatest cricketing batswoman to have ever played the game, she is
the highest run-scorer in women's international cricket and the only female
cricketer to surpass the 6,000 run mark in ODIs. She is the first player to
score 7 consecutive 50s in ODIs. Raj is the first captain (men or women) to
lead India to an ICC ODI World Cup final twice - 2005 and 2017.
Mithali has carried the baton of popularizing Women's Cricket, whereas Cricket has been there for years in India but women's cricket is popularized by Mithali through consistent performance and sportsman's spirit. For more than a decade she has been leading Indian women's cricket team. Mithali has been a mature, competent and inspiring leader, mentoring and motivating her team in tough times. Mithali was honoured by Indian government with the Arjuna Award in 2003 and the Padma Shri Award in 2015.
While growing up in a defense family, she inculcated discipline and commitment as main principles of her life. While she thrived for doing more, doing better. Right from her debut in New Zealand in 1999, Mithali’s journey has been a series of achievements, including being the only woman cricketer to cross the 6,000-run mark in one-day internationals and become the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket. Her individual successes have been mounting steadily through her career, but it is her success as a captain that sets her apart. Leading from the front, this Arjuna and Padma Shri awardee has led the Indian team twice to the World Cup finals. Not one to rest on her laurels, she is already preparing the team for the next World Cup—scouting for talent to be part of the team, as well as, mentoring the existing team to continue working hard.
When Speaking Minds was founded in 2007 in New Zealand, little did we envisage that this would grow into an international brand with offices in India and London in less than a decade. We set up the business to share what we had learnt, from the privileges we have had in our jobs – of access to knowledge.
Bringing India to the rest of the world was our driving force.
The dna of our business is genuinely about sharing knowledge with the
world, from thought leaders and experts who are notable achievers in
their field. Raga D'silva quit her highly successful corporate career in
New Zealand in 2007, to set up a dream business of connecting
knowledge, insights, motivation from exceptional talent with the
corporate world, globally.
