Challenge comes in many different forms but the approach to
challenge should always be the same, that is with courage, attitude and careful
analysis, failure of anyone of these elements means failure, on a mountain
often death. Define these elements, combine them with the principles of great
team management and success is the result!
Mark's team-building and decision-making programme uses
mountaineering and its critical decision-making scenarios as a core theme. It
is an interactive simulation, involving problem solving as individuals, as
members of a group and even between groups.
Integral to the event are team building 'lessons' imparted
by Mark with hints and comments as the game progresses. These are done by way
of group questions and interactions.
The Choices Workshop is designed to challenge people to
explore the context of decision-making and to provide useful skills for future
choices. The program empowers participants to engage each other in discussion
regarding decision-making. It is a learning focused sanction that allows
participants to examine the choices they make. The workshop hopes to have
participants think about the messages they receive, explore the impact of their
decisions and create strategies for improvement.
Life is a compromise, it is just that in some situations the
wrong compromise can kill you, that is something every young mountaineer learns
early, or doesn’t survive, it’s a dangerous ‘sandpit’ we play in.
With the element of risk come two things, the phenomenal
sense of achievement when we get it right and the responsibility to make
decisions based on often-limited information.
‘The Choice’ gives people a sense of the importance of
compromise in making the right decision rather than the easy or popular one!
When Speaking Minds was founded in 2007 in New Zealand, little did we envisage that this would grow into an international brand with offices in India and London in less than a decade. We set up the business to share what we had learnt, from the privileges we have had in our jobs – of access to knowledge.
Bringing India to the rest of the world was our driving force.
The dna of our business is genuinely about sharing knowledge with the
world, from thought leaders and experts who are notable achievers in
their field. Raga D'silva quit her highly successful corporate career in
New Zealand in 2007, to set up a dream business of connecting
knowledge, insights, motivation from exceptional talent with the
corporate world, globally.
